You may have heard the sad new that our dear friend and classmate, Joan, lost her long fight and died two weeks ago. She had had a very unusual blood disease and had gone through many months of transfusions, trips to Houston, treatments of other sorts. Joan was a wonderful person, devoted to Wellesley and to her Wellesley friends. She wasn’t able to make it to our 50th, but did come back to Alumnae Leadership Council as head of the ’56 Class Agents and take part in our Class Executive meetings – and fun. I was lucky to have been her roommate for that meeting.

I am happy to tell you that Carolyn Montgomery one of Joan’s closest friends has agreed to take over the job “In Memory of Joan.” Carolyn has done this job before for the Class and has also led us to record breaking heights as Major Gifts Chair for the 50th. She will be communicating with you as 2008 rolls along.

I hope some of you who have not yet signed up for Charleston will reconsider. And, if you are intersted in Playing golf the weekend before, let me know. I’m checking into various golf options.

Hi, Toni–
Harry may well be interested in any golf you devise, so keep us in the loop. I’ve given my clubs to Jr. Golf (for assorted reasons, some physical and some mental!), but still have shoes and can rake traps, hold pins etc. etc.—-without critiquing (sp?) the players. Looking forward to Charleston.
